The event will consist of two presentations, the first delivered by Metlife, looking at Trustee Investment Strategies. The rates of Income and Capital Gains Tax paid by trustees have increased dramatically recently and now more than ever since the introduction of the Trustee Act 2000 trustees need to take notice of their statutory requirement to seek investment advice. The aim of this session will be to consider trust investment strategies in the light of the Trustee Act 2000 and the recent tax changes. Specifically:

  • The requirements of trustees under the act, including those of duty of care and obtaining and considering proper advice.
  • What action trustees should take to satisfy the investment needs of the trust as well as reduce tax along with the associated advantages and disadvantages.
  • By the end of the session you will have the knowledge required to form a Trustee Investment Action Plan.

The second Presentation will see Just Retirement focus on Income in Retirement. As the ‘at-retirement’ market continues to grow, more of your clients will be moving towards or through retirement every year. This presents a significant opportunity. The characteristics and needs of the population coming into retirement are constantly evolving. Increasing numbers of people have to seek sources of funding to supplement savings that they have made into pension schemes. Just Retirement will explore some of the key considerations for you and your clients approaching or already in retirement including:

  • Changing demographics and the challenge this presents to retirement funding.
  • Are clients maximising their retirement income.
  • Using property to support retirement funding.
  • Protecting your client bank and next generation planning.
