  7. Disconnect between CPE and training. Firms addressing soft as well as technical skills.
  8. Continued movement toward compensation committees and away from formulas.
  9. Mergers sizzling. Large firms going outside of their traditional borders.
  10. Firms raising the bar on equity partner promotions: more use of non-equity partner positions.
  11. Renewed focus on fundamental firm-management practices and work processes.
