The Trust Review Service aims to carry out a detailed analysis of the current trustee investment portfolio, highlighting any areas of concern in relation to the Trustee Act 2000, and offer a solution to address these concerns. This will ensure that, as a trustee, you are meeting the requirements of the Act and are unlikely to face any complaints from the underlying beneficiaries.
2020 have formed a relationship with DPP Limited, an independent financial advisory company (authorised to provide investment advice) to introduce this service. Your existing IFA/Stockbroker relationships can remain unaffected by the service, and in some cases could be enhanced.
In their experience of dealing in the Trustee marketplace, it is their view that the majority of reviews which are undertaken probably do not have a stringent enough remit and will tend to focus heavily on the relative performance of the assets held within the Trust rather than focusing on whether they are suitable under the terms of the Act.
The Suitability Report which the service will provide under the Trust Review Service looks beyond just the investment performance and focuses on the wider ranging requirements of the Act.
Despite it being in place for over five years, many Trusts are still not adhering to the Trustee Act and are not utilising contemporary investment vehicles such as multi-manager products, for example.
