The 2020 Business Advisory Conference was a great success, with great speakers sharing their knowledge on all aspects of providing business advisory services and creating greater financial success and wealth for clients.
The conference, held on 13th June 2019 at London’s Victoria Park Plaza hotel, was opened by Ian Fletcher and Gordon Gilchrist who outlined the steps to take to position your firm as a business advisor.
Guest speaker Richard Walters, who is a leading expert on advisory services for accountants, explained how to develop structured advisory services when accountants are still busy with compliance. Richard cut through the misconceptions and myths surrounding advisory services and explained a client centric approach to develop fully structured and sustainable services that will future proof any practice.
Ian and Kevin Salter delivered the session ‘Delivering advice in a systemised way’ and demonstrated the tools and resources within the 2020 Business Advisory Hub. The hub contains proven and practical guidance, training and resources in areas including tax planning, wealth management, marketing, finance etc., all of which are available to 2020 platinum members. Joss Milner is the CEO and Co-Founder of Cash Flow Story, the global market leader in advisory software. Joss addressed the audience outlining how Cash Flow Story helps businesses predict forward their profits, cash flow and valuations. During the break, Joss was also on hand to demonstrate the programme in action and answer questions.
During the afternoon, delegates heard from corporate finance professional Mark Lucas who outlined the recent trends within the corporate finance sector. Mark explained the importance of cash flow, the rise of private equity and debt funds and also explained what makes great transactions and the barriers to success.
The conference included the popular segment ‘Success Stories from 2020 Members’ in which the audience heard success stories and advice from three 2020 firms who are specialist business advisers. Gloria Murray (Murray Associates), Rakesh Dua (Dua & Co), Susanne Harrison and Martin Robertson (both of Martin Robertson Associates Limited), covered the methods and techniques they’ve found and implemented, that have helped them successfully grow their firm. Delegates then had the opportunity to ask questions to our panel of experts on what works, what’s new and where they see the opportunities.
During the conference breaks, delegates had the opportunity to network with delegates and exhibitors showcasing the latest technologies and services including Sage, Clarity, Receipt Bank, Capium and many other top industry experts.
