2020 hosted the first conference of the year, the 2019 Spring Conference, on 7th March at Coventry’s Ricoh Arena.
The conference opened with a overview by Ian Fletcher and Gordon Gilchrist, highlighting the days itinerary, before introducing the first of the days speaker, Declan Curry.
Declan presented to an engaged audience about Brexit. He explained it’s worldwide impact, how to prepare and what can be expected beyond Brexit.
Following the break, Della Hudson took to the stage, sharing her experience of building a successful accounting practice. Della outlined the software and resources that helped elevate her practice.
Ian Fletcher followed, outlining the impending Making Tax Digital (MTD) changes coming into effect on 1st April, and what it means for accountancy practices going forward.
After a short recess, Kevin Salter joined Ian and showed how to educate clients on advisory services and identified some of the strategy, ‘What if’ budgeting and forecasting tools that are available to 2020 members especially those within the Business Advisory and Practice Management Hubs. They detailed a new service for accountants, 2020 Software; which enables the creation of a mobile app, website creation, Business Planning and Qtools.
Gordon Gilchrist presented ‘Sanity and Clarity’, providing delegates with motivational ideas and techniques, explaining new ways to adapt to an ever-changing working environment.
The conference covered the key challenges we face in the accounting industry, including the cloud, Brexit making tax digital and managing a strategy for change. A huge thanks to everyone who attended!
